Cookie policy

The small set of cookies and similar storage we use on ekovault.pro, what each one does, and how to switch them off.

The short version

We use exactly two pieces of local browser storage on this site. One remembers the cookie preference you set on the banner. The other is a temporary session token used to protect the contact form from cross-site abuse. We do not run any third-party advertising or behavioural tracking on this site.

What is a cookie, briefly

A cookie is a small piece of text that a website asks your browser to store, so that the next time you visit the same site it can recognise you or recall a setting. “Local storage” works similarly but lives in a different part of your browser and tends to persist longer. We treat both the same in this policy.

The cookies and storage we actually use

1. ekv_cookie_pref (local storage)

  • Purpose: Remembers whether you have already chosen “Accept all” or “Reject non-essential” on the cookie banner, so we do not show it on every visit.
  • Set by: ekovault.pro (our own JavaScript).
  • Stored value: the literal word “accept” or “reject”.
  • Duration: until you clear your browser storage, or click the small cog icon at the bottom-left of the page and change your choice.
  • Necessary? Yes — without it, the banner returns on every page load.

2. PHPSESSID (session cookie)

  • Purpose: Holds a temporary security token while the contact form is being filled in, so we can verify that the submission came from the actual page rather than a spoofed source.
  • Set by: ekovault.pro (PHP session mechanism).
  • Stored value: a random session identifier.
  • Duration: deleted automatically when you close your browser, or sooner if you do not interact with the site for 30 minutes.
  • Necessary? Yes — only set when you visit the contact page.

Things we deliberately do not do

  • No third-party advertising cookies.
  • No social media tracking pixels (no Facebook, no LinkedIn, no TikTok).
  • No behavioural analytics with personal identifiers (no Google Analytics, no Hotjar).
  • No remarketing or audience-building cookies.
  • No fingerprinting or device-ID collection.

If we ever add analytics, we will use a privacy-respecting, cookieless option (such as a self-hosted Plausible instance) and update this page before turning it on.

Browser-level controls

You can clear or block cookies and local storage entirely through your browser settings. The relevant menu is typically called “Cookies and site data” or “Privacy and security”. Blocking the two items above will not prevent you from browsing the site, but the cookie banner will reappear on each visit and you will not be able to submit the contact form.

Changing your mind

You can change your cookie preference at any time by clicking the small cog icon at the bottom-left of any page. The banner will re-appear and you can choose differently. Your new choice replaces the old one immediately.
